Kenya is to be featured in the 2014 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in the heart of Washington DC.

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is an annual 10-day event

attended by more than 1.5 million visitors. Kenya is the fifth African country (first
in East Africa) to be featured in the Folklife Festival.
The Kenya program at the 2014 Festival is a partnership between the government
of Kenya and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, with the
support and participation of many others.
The Festival provides an opportunity for US citizens and the world to experience
Kenya’s rich and diverse cultural and natural resources. There will be a number of
activities featuring Kenya in a number of Smithsonian institution’s.
The Folklife Festival has a strong Kenya Diaspora component. The role of the
Diaspora will be communicated in detail in due course.

In addition the Festival’s
