Memoirs From Chesamisi School.
The pit latrines or "Mogadishu" as we called it during our days was a funny place. Apart from boasting of the most choking pungent smell it was also the Box Office in school where great movies were scripted.
I remember an incident when my good friend Wambilianga decided to smoke the cancer stick from there. In a bid to ensure no smoke got out he would puff on the cigarette and direct the smoke into the hole until he got confused and started doing it in reverse but that's a story for another day.
Two weeks after my admission to this great institution, I made my way to this great centre after dinner to relieve my bowels. As was the norm I removed my sweater and shirt and hanged them on the door(this was a way of protecting them from the signature pungent smell that inhabited Mogadishu ) I got down to business but as I was in the middle of this sacred ritual a form 4 I would later know was called Mugodo decided to collect my shirt and sweater from the door and bless himself with the items. I wanted to chase after him but I couldn't because of the act I was engaged in. As I tried to ponder on my dilemma the door fell off it's hinges....
