Kenya Drama Festivals came and ignited these memories Nakuru in 2008 was no place like it is tday.

Whistling was a very strong term we used that had two meanings in high school,
1. Lacking escort for tea.
2. Going for a trip and failing to labda a lady.
Let's stick to that second meaning : It was a disgrace to whistle especially if you were a prominent member of the school moreso during a provincial level of competition.
One day we left for the drama festivals at Bulimbo Girls. After a great performance we set out on a "meet the girls" Tour being led by
Edwin Kings (He was a man gifted with the eyes of a hawk and a razor sharp tongue. He was constantly on the move trying to hit a target. He would swim you in an ocean of lies and fantasy and fry you. We called him "mbuta" alias Nile perch.)
Then there was Peter Namai ( A gifted liar,a seasoned orator with a very fat English. Most ladies would say yes to him not because they wanted to but for fear of being judged as naive on matters queen's language. At 4 inch-you call it feet tall,he was known as the philosopher a perfect case of the saying "A short man is not a boy")
Michael Khaduyu( this was that great actor but with no ability to woe a lady. He mostly relied on goodwill and general talks of the weather pattern and the academic syllabus when cornered by a lady. He was christened "the stammering philosopher").

Victor Milemba (was the perfect example of slow but sure. A student of the doctrines of Edwin Kings,he was soft spoken with a lethal pick up line. He was a man of one step at a time, the ladies saw some Alejandro potential in him.)
Simon Ashiema (The modern day Akuku danger from shimalabandu. He is that man that your sisters are always warned about when they join High school. Gifted with poetic flow,a charming smile and an innocent face, ladies would think "wamepata" kumbe "wamepatikana")
Now on this particular day after enjoying a nice stint on stage we set out roaming around as Khaduyu chickened out on the pretext of watching a play. We bumped into a group of red hot ladies from Arch Bishop Njenga Girls and we decided to test their resolve. Milemba looked at them and said " I will be at the nationals waiting for girls from Limuru girls, I don't want this ones" and he left.
Kings just vanished with a lady and so did Ashiema. I was stuck with Namai with 4 ladies, a very unbalanced grouping .....
I copied Milemba's sentiments and vanished, that evening the results were announced, we were not going for Nationals after "whistling "
